The pump that is designed as such that it can re-prime itself under lift condition is called a Self priming trash pump. This can clear its air-passages if it is in a condition of air bounding and is able to resume the release of the pumpage without any attention from outside. This is a user-friendly pump that is very efficient on its own and it eliminates the need for any foot-valves, ejector pumps and vacuum which has a possibility to get clogged or could not be used either remotely or for a long time. This pump can complete its tasks on its own as the piping system is designed not to clash with its task.
The piping system is the most important designing part that is required for the functioning of the self-priming trash pump. A allege of liquid which is sufficient to the prime pump must be maintained in the adjacent priming chamber. The system works as such when the pump is started a partial vacuum is created and the air is sucked from the suction pump so that it can be mixed with the liquid that is in the priming chamber. The process of the separation of the air and the liquid is continued and the process helps the pump to act on its own without any hamper. It is a very important to keep this in mind that this self priming pump cannot be operated without any water in its casing. This is quite different from the centrifugal pumps it has an inbuilt water reservoir which re-circulates the water inside the self-priming pump on priming rotation.
This reservoir is present either in front or above the impellor. It is suggested to use the pump only when there is water inside the reservoir or else it will result to a dangerous accident or a seal failure.
